OPINION — This year WWE’s WrestleMania event was one for the history books. It was the first live event with fans in over a year, and I was fortunate enough to be in attendance. Experiencing the whole night made me realize how much I’ve missed live events, especially WWE events because there is nothing like wrestling fans.

The night kicked off with a huge welcome from the WWE superstars and chairman. They thanked the crowd for being here and welcomed us to WrestleMania.

Unfortunately, Tampa was experiencing some crazy weather, and right after that announcement, we had to seek shelter. We stayed in place for 45 minutes before returning to our seats. Then finally the night could kick off.

Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley opened up the night to a huge pop. This brute force match was awesome and the energy throughout it was just as awesome. In the end, Bobby Lashley was victorious.

The next matchup was tag team turmoil. Two tag teams started off the match and had to eliminate one another to move on to the next tag team. The veteran squad of Natalya and Tamina took the win.

Seth Rollins and Cesaro put on a hell of a matchup next. This was one of the matches I anticipated the most. They had a good storyline buildup prior to WrestleMania and it featured two of the best wrestlers in the company. I was cheering for Rollins even though he was the heel character, but when Cesaro won I was just as satisfied. He finally got his WrestleMania moment and he worked the ring and crowd well with Rollins.

AJ Styles and Omos defeated the New Day for the Raw Tag Team Championship in the following match. This was Omos’ debut match and he was quite impressive. At one point in the match, he covered his opponent’s whole face with his hand…. yeah, it’s that huge.

Next up was a steel cage match between Shane McMahon and Braun Strowman. I predicted Strowman would beat the crap out of McMahon, but wasn’t ready for the beating Strowman would take beforehand. He was attacked with chairs before even entering the steel cage, but in the end, he was able to get the victory.

Bad Bunny made his debut match appearance teaming with Damian Priest to take on the Miz and John Morrison. I was really impressed with Bad Bunny’s wrestling who picked up the win for his team. Plus his intro was amazing.

Night one of WrestleMania ended with the match of the night. This history-making main event was the first time two black women had a main event at WrestleMania. And it just happened to feature my favorite superstar Sasha Banks. Although Banks lost, she put on a great match with Belair, selling and delivering moves equally well. Belair did amazing work also, showing that she is the strongest, fastest and toughest and she got the pop she deserved from fans after winning the championship.

Night two of WrestleMania was equally as electric. Almost all the matches were phenomenal and once again, the main event of the night stole the show. Roman Reigns defeated Edge and Daniel Bryan in a nail-biting triple threat match for the universal championship. Though I was hoping Bryan would win, this was a great match regardless.

WWE had a successful return to live fan events with this two-night WrestleMania spectacular. History was made, championship titles were lost and the memories will last forever. I’m already planning my trip to Dallas for next year’s WrestleMania.
