Only students from the Woodsprings Suites to relocate to campus in Spring 2025

The Office of Housing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has informed The Vermilion of some misinformation in a recent article published this week.

“Students staying in hotels to move onto campus in the spring semester” by Kayla Woods-Crane, explained the move-out confirmation of students at satellite locations onto campus, following an email interview with the director of property management, Dawn Miller. In the article, Woods-Crane shared that all students located at the satellite locations will be moved onto campus residence halls beginning in Spring 2025. However, The Office of Housing clarified that only students residing at the Woodsprings Suites, an Extended Stay Hotel will be relocated onto campus next semester.

The Woodsprings Suites mainly served as a boy’s dormitory for freshmen that entered the University in Fall 2024. Due to students graduating in December and some deciding to not continue at the University next semester, more space has opened up in residence halls. The students at the Woodsprings satellite location can now expect to begin their new year at the University while living on campus. The students residing at the Wingate by Wyndham hotel, however, will not be moving to campus. Serving mainly as a girl’s dormitory, the Wingate satellite location will remain in use by the University in Spring 2025.

Miller stated in an earlier interview with Woods-Crane, “University Housing and Residential Life will continue to strive to provide our students with the best experience on campus and at our extended locations.”
