Halloween, the spookiest time of the year! A time for candy, pumpkins and, of course, the perfect costume. In my efforts to find the perfect costume for all the spooky festivities, I’ve decided to look back on some costumes I’ve worn and decide – would I wear those again?
First up, we have none other than the young explorer herself, Dora.
This costume consisted of the iconic pink shirt and orange shorts combo with a purple backpack and white shoes. Of course, we cannot forget a brown yarn wig to truly encapsulate the famous hairstyle.
Would I wear this costume again? Probably not.
I like to feel confident and amazing and spooktacular in my Halloween costumes, and I feel like this is just not the choice for that. Perhaps, I could pull it off in an ironic way if I were just slightly more of a silly goose.
But, ultimately, we must pass. I rate this 5/10 yarn wigs.
Next, we have Cinderella. Not just any Cinderella, no, that would simply be too basic.
This was Cinderella as a bride, made up of a Disney licensed princess wedding dress and veil. Accessories included a faux rose bouquet from my mom’s wedding, a pearl necklace and pearl drop earrings.
I have to say, I’m on the fence with this one. I wouldn’t wear a full wedding dress, of course, but I think it would be a good option for when you’re trying to be something a little different.
There is, however, the possibility of being mistaken for just a bride and having to spend a whole night trying to explain what you’re dressed as is definitely no fun.
So, all in all, I’d have to rate this 3/10 princess dresses simply for practicality purposes.
Our third costume of discussion is the angel. Pretty basic attire: long white dress with lace detailing and lace sleeves. And, of course, it wouldn’t be an angel costume without the wings and the halo.
The halo, however, wasn’t the typical gold ring suspended above my head. It was a fuzzy white headband. It reminds me of a nice fuzzy caterpillar that just decided to take a nap across my head.
I don’t have much else to say about this one, to be honest. It’s a pretty standard costume, and I feel as though everyone has done it at least once.
A big problem I would have is with the entire costume being white. I’m a messy person sometimes, so me and white are definitely not always friends.
Very cute, probably would wear. Overall, I rate this 7/10 fuzzy halos.
The final costume for discussion is my personal favorite, a witch costume.
This costume consisted of a black dress with long purple sleeves and white spider web accents.
Unfortunately, in place of a witch’s hat, I was given a sign that said “Good witches don’t wear hats.” I’m not really sure the reason; ask my mom if you really want an explanation.
I vividly remember wearing this costume and really liking it as well, even though I begged my mom to just let me wear the hat with it.
Still, this costume holds a very special place in my heart. I remember not wanting to take it off and sitting in the small closet in our camper wearing it and eating candy.
So, would I wear this costume again? Absolutely! In fact, it’s my costume for this year’s Halloween. I rate this costume 10/10 hatless witches.
