El Pollo Loco is a local Mexican restaurant dedicated to serving quality and authentic Mexican dishes in the Lafayette community.

The smoky smell of grilled chicken fills your nostrils as you enter the restaurant. The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed. This spot is perfect for a lunch date, a place to chill and study or dine with family and friends. The décor consists of a lot of different colors, pictures of avocados and wooden furniture.

El Pollo Loco offers a variety of delicious and authentic Mexican dishes. The menu consists of tostadas, chicken meals, fire grill combos, burritos, chicken bowls, street tacos and extras like the homemade tortilla soup. Family dinners, kids meals and cinnamon churros are also offered.

Did you say you were on a diet? Not to worry. El Pollo Loco’s “Pollo Fit” menu features a Double Chicken Avocado Salad and The World’s First Keto Burrito that will satisfy your taste buds while keeping you on track with a healthy meal choice.

The price of each dish is very affordable for diners. All dishes range between $7 and $15. Family chicken meals are pricier depending on the size of the meal that you’re ordering. For an eight-piece family meal that serves three to four people, it costs $25. A 12-piece family meal that serves five to six people costs $33. Lastly, for a 16-piece family meal that serves seven to eight people it costs $40.

My favorite dish to order from El Pollo Loco is their shredded chicken nachos. For only $8, you get a generous amount of lightly salted tortilla chips topped with shredded fire-grilled chicken, guacamole, fresh pico de gallo, sour cream, pinto beans, diced onions and a creamy queso blanco sauce. This order also comes with a medium soft drink of your choice. I also decided to order three pieces of grilled chicken on the side.

As always, the chicken nachos were on point. The shredded grilled chicken was so moist and tender. To say that I was not always a fan of pico de gallo, it mixed with the dish’s other ingredients was so satisfying.

My favorite part of this dish is the queso blanco sauce. The three pieces of grilled chicken that I ordered on the side were crispy, evenly cooked, and the best way to top off this meal.

My overall experience at El Pollo Loco was definitely one I looked forward to experiencing again.

The customer service was friendly, engaging and fast-paced. The cashier who served me had a very welcoming smile as she made sure that I received all of the food that I ordered and that I was happy with my purchase.

The restaurant itself is very neat, clean and spacious. The seating consists of hard, sturdy chairs that are comfortable for patrons. Bar stools are another option for seating. This restaurant is also wheelchair accessible. For diners who wish to enjoy the feels of nature and sunlight while they enjoy their meals, there is also a seating area outside of the restauarant.
