There aren’t many times that I go downtown, but in each instance that I do, I have my friends along with me. While we walk along the sidewalks, I really enjoy looking at what each store displays by their windows.
Even though I don’t have the intention of buying anything, I always like to window shop! It’s even better when you have friends that seem to enjoy that as well.
After a while of strolling with my friends, I only do what comes next… eat! On my recent trip downtown, I went to a pizza place called Central Pizza. Luckily I was with my friends again, and we split two pizzas and some garlic knots. The food was delicious! I would definitely eat there again, and if you have not gone, I recommend going there. All in all, I don’t think these experiences would be as memorable if it weren’t for the people dear to me.

My favorite place to go downtown is a club called The Office. It’s one of the first downtown night scenes that I visited during my first year at UL Lafayette. During my first visit, I met this incredibly fun guy who I danced with the entire night. He told me that I should refer to him as my “gay best friend.” Upon returning, I found out that he’s a regular guest and now, we frequently see each other there and dance the night away!
There are other college students that frequently go there as well and they all come to party!
Since freshman year, I haven’t been going out as much because school has ramped up and I’m more involved on campus. However, whenever I want to take the edge off or just have a bit of fun, The Office is definitely my spot of choice and I highly recommend it.

There are a lot of fun things to do in downtown Lafayette. You have many options to fill up a nice quiet Saturday afternoon when you just want to get out of the house and explore. The main public library downtown can be a nice place to rest and find a new book if you don’t like buying a new book. My two favorite places I always like to pop into are Lagniappe Records and right across the street Beausoleil Books.
The staff at both stores are very nice and are always helpful when I am trying to find something.
Artwalk happens on the second Saturday of every month. I first recommend stopping at the Acadiana Center of the Arts (ACA). I always get hungry when I am downtown. My go-to stop for food is La Carreta (their shrimp is really good). Downtown Lafayette holds many special memories and more will be made.

I don’t enjoy leaving the comfort of my home often, but my friends are very persistent. So, I always end up going downtown with them to babysit them. However, I have found that downtown is very fun even if you aren’t on the party scene.
I enjoy looking for hole-in-the-wall places like bookshops or antique stores. Sometimes I just walk around with my friends and we always find something weird to do. This one time, we were accidentally drawn into a karaoke night at a coffee shop. That was weird, but fun. On some occasions my friends and I dress up nice and go solely to take pictures, I always end up as the unofficial photographer.
Sometimes I go downtown for work purposes. It really incentivizes me to leave my hut and socialize with the world, plus I get paid.
I have learned that the music and art scene in downtown Lafayette far outmatches the party scene.
