The Louisiana Comic Con comes to the Cajundome Convention Center on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, March 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature celebrity guests, artists, vendors, a video game tournament and many other panels and activities.

This two-day event brings together and caters to a wide variety of pop culture fans. Guests to this year’s convention include Kim Rhodes (the mom from “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and Sheriff Jody Mills on “Supernatural,”) Zachary Gordon and Robert Capron (Greg Heffley and Rowley from “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”), Scott Innes (who has voiced Shaggy, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo) and more.

Guests are available for autographs, selfies and professional photo opportunities, and some have additional offerings such as metal prints, voice/video recording, and so on.

On Saturday, the main stage will showcase a costume competition starting at 6 p.m., with categories for kids 10 and under, adults and a “craftsmanship” category for those who’ve made their costume from scratch, which is divided further into novice, journeyman and master divisions. The top three contestants in the kids and adults categories will receive medals, while the top contestants in each division of the craftsmanship category will receive a trophy, as well as a cash prize for Best in Show.

The video game tournament taking place over both days of the convention includes a selection of fighting games, like new releases Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6, as well as older favorites Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Complementing this are card and tabletop games, including Dungeons & Dragons, Murders at Karlov Manor and a Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh card game tournament. A selection of board games will also be available to play for free the whole weekend of the convention.

This year’s panels range from sessions with celebrity guests, to talks on pop culture and its history, to tips and advice on cosplaying (including one panel called “Cosplay on a Dime” by Suzanne’s Cosplay that may appeal to college students on a budget).

Booth space has been completely sold out, so convention-goers will enjoy a rich showfloor full of vendors, artists and fan groups.

Parking will be available around the Cajundome and at Cajun Field. For further updates and more information, including ticketing, a full list of guests, registration for competitions and a map of vendor/artist booths, visit the Louisiana Comic Con’s website.
