Located on W Congress St. in Lafayette, Scooter’s Coffee has quickly become a local favorite, offering an inviting atmosphere and a vibrant menu that caters to coffee enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike. As the leaves turn and the air gets crisp, this coffee chain transforms into a haunt for coffee lovers seeking festive flavors and a cozy atmosphere.
Scooter’s Coffee was founded in 1998 by Don and Linda Eckles in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple aimed to create a coffee shop that combined high-quality coffee with speedy service.
The first location was a drive-thru model, which quickly gained popularity for its convenience and emphasis on customer experience. In 2020, another location was opened here in Lafayette.
Scooter’s offers a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of tastes. Their coffee drinks include classic options like espresso, lattes in various flavors (such as vanilla, caramel and mocha), rich americanos and creamy cappuccinos. Their fall flavors include a variety of pumpkin flavors, caramel apple and even their famous “Trick or Treat” blender. They also showcase a variety of pastries, such as muffins, croissants and cinnamon rolls.
My colleague and I had the pleasure of visiting this coffee establishment on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Upon approaching the drive-thru, I was greeted by the friendly baristas, whose enthusiasm for coffee was as warm as a cozy blanket on a chilly October night. Eager to embrace the Halloween spirit, I decided to first try the “Trick or Treat” blender.

The “Trick or Treat” blender is a fun and festive seasonal drink that captures the spirit of Halloween. This blended beverage typically features a mix of chocolate, vanilla and a hint of caramel, creating a delightful combination reminiscent of classic Halloween treats. It’s often topped with whipped cream and M&M’s.
Upon the first sip, I was greeted by a rich and creamy blend that combined chocolate and vanilla in a harmonious way. The chocolate flavor was indulgent without being overpowering, while the vanilla added a smooth sweetness that complemented it beautifully.
My colleague decided to get the Pumpkin Chai blender, a delicious seasonal offering that beautifully combines the warm, comforting flavors of pumpkin and chai spices. The pumpkin flavor was prominent but not overwhelming, perfectly balanced with the aromatic chai spices—cinnamon, nutmeg and clove—which added depth and warmth. This blend created a cozy, inviting taste that instantly put her in the fall spirit.
We also decided to get two of their popular fall treats, the Trick or Treat cake bite and the Pumpkin Cheesecake bite. The Trick or Treat cake bite has a balance of rich chocolate, creamy caramel and nutty peanut butter, making it a perfect treat for those looking to indulge this Halloween. The Pumpkin Cheesecake bite features a traditional spice mix of nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon, blended with pumpkin and classic cake with a cream cheese filling.
As we finished our coffees and treats, I decided to interview one of the baristas, Landon Monceaux. “This place is really great for my first job, I’ve been working here for two months and this is one of the best jobs I could have asked for. This is definitely the perfect job if you’re in college or school, they are very lenient and the pay is good.”
All in all, I enjoyed my experience at Scooter’s coffee. If you want to work at this establishment, they are now hiring at all positions. They are open Monday- Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
