On Saturday Mar. 29 from 7 to 11 p.m., the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Infinity Dance Group will be having a showcase. This event will take place on UL Lafayette campus in Angelle Hall located at 601 East St. Mary Blvd.
Doors will open a half hour before the showcase begins and will be open to anyone who wishes to attend. As guests arrive, they will have to purchase tickets, which will cost $5 each. Tickets will only be available at the door and may be paid for using cash or Cash App. The money raised during this showcase will be going towards PJ’s Dance Art School.
Early arrival is highly encouraged as seats may fill up fast.
The dancers and group as a whole have put in more than their share of time and effort for this event. They have been rehearsing and putting everything together since last November.
Braedon Johnson and Janelle Angrum are the co-presidents of the Infinity Dance Group.
Johnson says, “Even though it’s our showcase we do showcase other people’s talents within the show. It also evokes different feelings throughout the show for the audience. For example, we want everyone to be hype during the show but know that we can also feel other emotions as well.”
Angrum says, “Being a part of Infinity is more than being a part of a team, it’s being a part of a family. We go through things together and support each other. Personally, it gives me a sense of purpose when it comes to being a leader. Being a part of this team is more than just dance, it’s life.”
She concludes by saying “If students come, they will get the full Infinity experience, So if you’ve ever questioned what Infinity does, our showcase is the perfect way to find out.”
In the past, the Infinity Dance Group has done giveback nights, “pie an Infinity member” events, fundraising bake sales, and performed at Afrofest, Martin Luther King Day Celebration, the Miss Phi Beta Sigma pageant and much more.
Nina Hubert, a freshman psychology major says, “I am excited to see it because I haven’t seen any dance programs here yet, so I’m excited to see what they have.”
Many students at the University have stated that they are very precise in their movements and never fail to entertain.
This show will be hosted by stand-up comedian and award winning filmmaker Chris Jones. Residing in Lafayette, Jones has in the past hosted kickbacks with an open mic, karaoke and games, along with “Seauxl Project” that included an open mic and live music.
Some of his shows this year have been “Mocktail Comedy” on Feb. 22 in Baton Rouge and “Improv Rumble” on Mar. 15 in Lafayette.
The Infinity Dance Group showcase will no doubt be entertaining and full of emotion. Students, friends and family are sure to leave with an experience that they won’t forget.
