Located at 2207 Kaliste Saloom Rd., Suite A-2, Nutrition Krewe is a local nutrition and vitamin/supplement establishment.

This healthy place features over 60 different smoothies and loaded teas, including 22 Halloween-exclusive teas. They also serve coffee and fitness shakes along with supplements, vitamins and wellness-related items for sale.

Their menu offers a wide variety of teas, each customizable to your caffeine preferences. There are four levels, numbered one through four, with caffeine content ranging from 85mg to 275mg. All of their smoothies contain 24g of protein, 10g of sugar and 18g of carbohydrates, which is relatively low for the average smoothie or milkshake.

Some of their Halloween-exclusive teas include, but are not limited to, the Voodoo (watermelon/pomegranate), Wicked Witch (green apple/grape), Goosebumps (grape/strawberry kiwi), Marie Laveaux (cranberry/white grape) and Sarah Sanderson (strawberry kiwi/ sour blue razz).

Other non-Halloween options include smoothies such as Blueberry Muffin, Cake Batter, Cinnamon Roll, Cookies & Cream, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Blueberry, Party Animal, Snickerdoodle and Strawberry Cheesecake.

The establishment also offers some other named non-Halloween teas such as Autumn Rose (tropical/peach), Blondie (pina colada/mango), Captain America (strawberry/tart blue), Death Valley (grape/peach), Gucci (pineapple/ pina colada), Hot Girl Summer (strawberry/pineapple), Love Potion (cherry/watermelon) and Ragin’ Cajun (orange/strawberry).

Michael Hebert decided to open Nutrition Krewe in October of 2019 after falling in love with supporting the community.

Since its opening, they have become a beloved spot for locals and visitors seeking nutritious and healthy options in a welcoming atmosphere.

Hebert stated that the funniest part was “when we opened… COVID hit like four months later and we’re a brand new small business, just me, my wife and two girls. We’re trying to open up this healthy concept of a cafe, coffee, smoothie, you know, whatever shop… and we were first nervous that the community wouldn’t support healthy… we were willing to invest in the belief that the community was looking for a daily consistent clean energy drink or smoothie.”

The atmosphere of this restaurant was definitely chill and relaxing.

They had a few nice chairs around the place, but the main seating area was the bar. I enjoyed the concept because it was easy to talk to the staff and make my visit more personal.

My colleague and I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment on Thurs., Oct. 23.

As we walked in, two workers behind the counter greeted us, and we began looking over the extensive menu. I knew for a fact that there was no way we could choose just one thing.

After spending enough time looking at the regular and Halloween menus, we both decided to order tea from the Halloween menu.

Lil’ Batty, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Spooky Boujee

I decided to get the Spooky Boujee (pineapple/orange), while my colleague chose the Lil’ Batty (pineapple/ blackberry). I was, of course, going to get a smoothie, but it was hard to choose with so many options. Ultimately, I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch smoothie.

While we waited for our drinks, we sat at the bar and spoke with Hebert. “So we are one location, we are not legally a franchise because we don’t want to be… Everybody is moving here, and that’s kind of why we picked here at this location… we kind of got here before everything went crazy… new businesses are still coming, Trader Joe’s, a new Rouses… we are in the perfect spot,” he said.

“It’s hard to be independent, have one location and survive… because kids don’t understand that you got to support the families and communities that are already here and local… it’ll be six years this week, believe it or not… I love to serve the community in every way I can.”

We received our drinks soon after starting our conversation with the owner. Each drink came out quickly and beautifully. My drink was yellow, fading to an orangeish color at the bottom.

The drinks tasted even better than I expected. Our teas, despite being Level 3 on the caffeine scale, were not too sweet and tasted exactly like the fruit was squeezed into the cup.

My Cinnamon Toast Crunch smoothie tasted like dessert in a cup. It was rich and creamy but not too heavy. It had a perfect balance of cinnamon and sweetness that reminded me of one of my favorite cereals.

If you would like to visit this exclusive Louisiana establishment, they are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are closed on Sunday.
